Cedar Rapids art policy under debate over loan controls
Cedar Rapids school district faces concern from art teachers about a policy change on loaned artworks to the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. Teachers argue the change could remove district recall rights and promote inequity, while Superintendent Lew Finch says the update ensures the district cannot recall pieces before contract end. The 10 year loan of about a dozen works may be reduced under a new agreement between the district and the museum, possibly returning with works like Young Corn by Grant Wood.
