Groscost found guilty of double murder in 1980 Boone slayings
William Groscost of Des Moines was convicted by a Webster County jury of two counts of first degree murder for the Jan. 7 1980 shooting deaths of Robert and Helen Bargenquast in their Boone home. Sentencing set for Sept. 18 in Boone County District Court.

Two Michiganders Die In I 80 Crash Near Oxford
Two travelers from Michigan died when their four wheel drive vehicle rolled over on Interstate 80 four miles west of the Oxford exit. The Iowa State Patrol said the crash occurred just before midnight Wednesday. Victims were Donald Worsley 21 of Birmingham and Ross John Engel 26 of Ann Arbor.

Luster Heights Prison Camp to reopen for park work
Allamakee County officials report the Luster Heights Prison Camp will reopen on or about November 1 to provide work-release labor for parks in Allamakee and Clayton counties. Prisoners will be phased in starting with about 15, rising to as many as 40, living at the camp during sentences.
