Harold Mefferd Found Dead in Buffalo Creek Coggon
Harold Glenn Mefferd died around 6 p.m. Thursday after an apparent fall from a footbridge over Buffalo Creek in Coggon. Sheriff Walter Grant said autopsy results would reveal if death was due to heart attack or drowning. A Cedar Rapids resident for 53 years, he lived at Bennion nursing home in Coggon the last two years. Surviving: sister Elizabeth Hale, sister Mildred Hensch, brother Alfred G. Mefford, all of Cedar Rapids. Services Monday at Beatty-Bearle Chapel with burial at Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Saturday.

Israeli warplanes attacked Arab guerrilla bases inside Jordan after clashes on the Lebanese and Jordanian borders. Ten Arabs and one Israeli soldier were killed and seven Israelis wounded.
