Police report a break in at Balloons Etc at 720 Center Point Rd NE. Officers found a broken window and open door after the 9:30 p.m. alarm Friday. About $150 in cash and 500 to 600 balloons stolen. reward may be available for information to the anonymous tip line 1-800-272-7463.
Police seek several men who assaulted 43 year old Scott A. Larson at his apartment in the 1856 A Ave NE area around 10 p.m. Friday. Larson, naked, went to a neighbor’s door for help. officers found him injured and bleeding inside. He was taken to St Luke’s Hospital. no condition reported. No descriptions of the attackers were available. Call 1 800 for information.
Danny Henderson, 38, of Cedar Rapids, led police on a pursuit starting at H Avenue and Oakland Road NE at 12:19 a.m. when stopped for a equipment violation. He was captured on First Avenue West and charged with driving while revoked, attempting to elude, disobeying a traffic device and windshield/window violations. He was also wanted on a forgery warrant and taken to Linn County Jail.
Alliant Energy customers along Edgewood Road 16th Street SW and Williams Boulevard were without power for nearly two hours after a bird struck electrical equipment on Edgewood Road around 6 15 p m. Power was restored by about 8 p m.
