Energy Tax Breaks Dropped From Big Tax Bill
Senate finance committee drops a $500 million energy conservation package from the tax revision bill and plans to reintroduce it in a separate energy measure. A gasoline tax is raised by a half cent for three years to offset losses, but chances of passage before adjournment look slim. The energy plan would have offered up to 225 dollars off tax bills for insulation and similar home improvements, plus incentives for geothermal solar and wind projects.
