Alcatraz Swim Documentary Debuts At Englert Theatre
The 56 minute film follows Lakota youths swimming from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco in September 2005. Dr. Nancy Iverson created the Pathstar program blending western medicine with Lakota traditions to lift life prospects on Pine Ridge. Iverson funded half the $45k to $50k cost and seeks schools as teaching tools and donations to expand the program.
