Baby Held by Hospital Reunited With Father After Judge Ruling
Elaine Shopkus, eight months old, was held by a Chicago hospital for seven months over board and incubator fees. Judge Joseph B. David ordered the hospital to surrender the child and ordered an investigation. Elaine’s mother died the day after birth. Stanley Shopkus and Elaine’s father stood with the baby as the court enforced the guardianship transfer.
