Cardinal flower a thing of beauty along Iowas rivers
A writer reflects on cardinal flowers along Eastern Iowa streams from July to September. He recalls first seeing the blooms on a Wapsipinicon River sand bar ten years ago and ties their late summer beauty to fishing, hummingbirds, and river life. He notes the plant’s habitats and the symbolic link to life, scenting the piece with personal memory.
