Iowa Soybeans Slide Amid Driest July on Record
AP dispatch notes Iowa soybeans lag amid drought, with ISU agronomists reporting poor blooms and aborted pods. Despite some rains, soy yields may dip below the 33 bushels per acre average, as Halley of USDA cites an Aug 1 projection of 31 bushels. Iowa plants nearly seven million acres to soybeans, about a million more than usual, while Illinois eyes the nation’s largest corn crop this year.
