Ferentzs donate $1 million for neonatal research at Iowa hospital
The University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital receives a $1 million gift from Kirk and Mary Ferentz to establish the Savvy Ferentz Program in Neonatal Research. The donation honors their granddaughter Savvy Elizabeth, born prematurely in August 2014, and aims to improve care and outcomes for extremely premature infants. The hospital, a top Level IV NICU, ranks highly in neonatology and already boosts survival for babies born at 24 and 25 weeks.
