Protesters pray outside court as monument faces removal
Demonstrators camp outside the Alabama Judicial Building in Montgomery to try to stop the 5300 pound Ten Commandments monument from being moved. Patrick Mahoney of the Christian Defense Coalition announced a federal lawsuit to challenge the removal and Moore’s noninterference. Chief Justice Roy Moore would appeal the federal order to the U.S. Supreme Court. Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor backed the removal and was unavailable for comment.
