City faces 400000 verdict over quoted official remarks

A Cedar Rapids jury ordered the city and Building Housing and Zoning chief Boxa to pay 400000 to Davenport firm owners Fox and Gerety. The case centers on Boxa remarks about public protections and alleged threats to put a business out of operation. The Gazette defended its reporting as accurate and corrected the quote the next day. The council will decide on an appeal, risking drainage from the city risk fund.
