Gov. Harold Hughes of Iowa remains uncommitted on a Johnson vice presidential choice but is viewed as a likely presence in the convention elevated role. He noted LBJ’s openness to multiple governors and a possible early decision, while signaling no change in his support for Sen. Humphrey for VP. Wesleyan Names New Business Manager

Wesleyan college in PLEASANT Iowa has named L W Van Winkle of Kenosha Wisconsin as its new business manager treasurer. Dr John W Henderson president announced he will begin duties September 15. Van Winkle, 37, previously ran Carthage College finances since 1960 after 13 years there. He is Newark Ohio native with a Capital University degree and U of Kentucky graduate study, and Navy service in World War II. He replaces Werner N Snow who takes a post at Albion College Michigan.

Luther to Participate in College Session in Northwood

Decorah Luther college admissions counselor John Larson will represent Luther on a five-university panel at a Northwood high school gym program for about 300 attendees starting at p.m. on September 22. Iowa City Public School Staff Workshop Opens

A staff work shop for Iowa City public school teachers began Monday at City High School. Vice-president H J C Houghton of the Chamber of Commerce welcomed attendees, introduced by Supt. Buford Garner and area principals. A city tour followed with a noon lunch at the Procter and Gamble plant. The week includes specialized workshop sessions. Schools will open Sept. 1.
