Resignation Follows Audit Of Lyon County Justice Of The Peace
Lyon county justice of the peace Jerome Kuiper of Little Rock resigned after an audit found fines collected in 1966 and 1967 not turned in. Auditor Lloyd Smith said Kuiper turned in more than 900 dollars to the county treasurer, and he noted several other justices had delayed or failed to remit money, likely due to carelessness and supervision gaps rather than malice.
