Belle Plaine museum pays off debt grows endowment
The Belle Plaine Area Museum, opened in 2004 at a cost of 1.2 million, has paid off its building debt. A mix of local and national donations and a 250000 Vision Iowa grant funded the project. The next step is to grow an endowment to cover annual expenses of about 16000. Volunteers run the museum with 10 regular hands and at least 20 more for big events.
