Interstate System Completion Delayed By Federal Cuts
Iowa faces at least a two year delay in finishing the interstate system to 1980 as federal aid for highways shrinks. State highway director Coupal notes fiscal 1974 would bring about 26.6 million for interstate work, with 30.5 million anticipated for 1975 and similar for 1976. Funds for urban transit rise under a new urban D system, enabling bus and rail purchases, while the federal act adds heavy administrative demands on the highway commission.
