Paris AP reports non Communist unions order thousands back to work ending a 16 day strike wave. Postal telegraph and telephone workers reach agreement with Premier Laniel, with union participation in proposed wage and benefit revisions. Rail and coal strikes persist, sidelining most transport as GLG unions negotiate.
About 2 000 AT and T lines department workers in Chicago walked off Friday to attend a CIO meeting delaying long distance service. The company expects workers to return in four to six hours while labeling the action a temporary tactic during contract talks in Kansas City.
A young ex prisoner of war from Freedom Village in Virginia says he will be 18 soon. He enlisted days after his 17th birthday and was freed as a teenager in May 1951. He notes his age and service pride despite his youth.

Local officers found him despondent on courthouse steps and learned of his truthful claim about his home town. An Oklahoma City couple offered Roy a chance to join their family, hoping he could help them as they mourn their son lost in a Florida plane crash that killed 24 ROTC cadets.
At the United Nations Henry Cabot Lodge said the United States will vote against seating India at the Korean political conference. He aimed to reassure bloc members about U S stance and tied the move to Nehru’s remarks on seeking a seat only if shared leadership is clear.
Gen. Carlos P. Romulo quits the Philippine presidential contest and endorses Nacionalista Ramon Magsaysay after talks with Nacionalista leaders. He says his Democratic party did not abandon its principles despite the alliance.

Providence report states Wilton Slocum a 25 year old U S naval electrician was arrested Friday on a burglary charge in a $60 000 robbery of a civilian credit union safe at Quonset naval air station in February 1951.
Lucille A Vogeler writes to U N officials criticizing their approach to Korea peace talks. In letters to Henry Cabot Lodge and John Pearson she says diplomacy veils true aims and urges Russia to sit out the conference, arguing Americans tire of double talk and want clear action.
Cpl. Cecil Gilbert son of Ray Gilbert of Marengo was among four Iowa servicemen released from Korean POW camp. He arrived in two weeks by ship to San Francisco after 20 years as a prisoner of war. He served as aviation mechanic and was captured in February 1951 at Camp No. 1 Changson.
In Jersey City AP report, Henry Grunewald of Washington age 63 is identified by police as the man found overcome by gas fumes in a kitchen with Ann Anderson, 46. The two were found after a coffee pot might have boiled over, with open liquor bottles present and Grunewald previously fined for contempt of Congress related to an influence peddling inquiry.
The Marchioness of Milford-Haven filed a state supreme court action in New York for separation or divorce from Dav Milford-Haven. The couple wed February 4, 1950, inton. Separation may be sought on grounds including cruel and inhuman treatment, abandonment or non-support. The case is on the September calendar.
Morocco swears in Sidi Mohammed Moulay Ben Arafa as ruler replacing deposed Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Youssef. Arafa, 64, a wealthy scholar, inherits postwar regime as French authorities mobilize to support the new sultan amid upheaval in Rabat.
Harvey L. Northrup of Federalsburg Maryland was captured by Iowa patrols after allegedly abducting a 40 year old Iowa woman at gunpoint and fleeing through back roads. He faced charges of carrying a concealed weapon and drunken driving in Elkader and was bound over to the grand jury.
Harold Knutson 72 a staunch conservative and former chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee died after a series of attacks in Wadena Minnesota. He led the 80th Congress efforts to cut income taxes by 20 percent and carried the bill despite President Truman's opposition. He failed in his 1948 bid for a 17th term.
