The casket will lie in state at the Greene county courthouse rotunda before services at the Rainey residence Messages of condolence pour in from peers diplomats and officials as Rainey dies in St Louis after a heart ailment.
Ford Motor announces a 10 million dollar expansion of its River Rouge plant at Dearborn. The program will occur over the next ten months with contracts signed by Henry Ford. It is described as one of the nation’s largest capital improvements by any industrial concern in recent years.

In Portland Oregon a waterfront shootout left longshoreman Bob James Conner dead and R A Griffin wounded amid factional strife linked to the coast maritime strike. The two men belonged to the Columbia River Longshoremen's Association, formed as a breakaway from the International Longshoremen's Association. Griffin said 25 to 30 members gathered when a groups approach was reported.
Hog prices rose to 6.85 per hundredweight in Chicago as drought and a USDA reduction campaign boosted values. Dealers noted supply was barely sufficient to meet demand and Monday's volume was the smallest for a Monday since October.

Cedar Rapids reports the drowning of brothers Bennie Millard nine and Bobbie Millard twelve at the Cedar River dam after Bennie fell into the water and Bobbie attempted a rescue. Firemen recovered both bodies within minutes. witnesses included W C Pfautz and G W Sills. The incident occurred Sunday morning near the wall separating the boat lock from the fish run.
