Iowa lawmakers hear private pleas to overhaul divorce and custody laws
At the Iowa Capitol a Friday meeting hosted by Sen. Jason Schultz and Family United Action Network gathered about a dozen Iowa residents to urge changes to divorce and custody rules. Speakers described abuse and mis care under the current system and called for 50/50 shared parenting as default, with oversight of child protective services.

Mercy Medical Center Donates Medical Gear to Cedar Rapids Police
Mercy Medical Center trauma director Dr. Nora Royer donated 10,829.60 from the Cornyn Family Charitable Fund to equip Cedar Rapids police with 30 emergency shears 30 hemorrhage control kits and 260 tourniquets plus 48 cases of gloves and two cases of rolled gauze.
