Prague Spring Ends as Soviet Troops Remain 10 Years On
On the 10th anniversary of the 1968 invasion, Soviet and Warsaw Pact troops remain in Czechoslovakia after a forced normalization. Dubcek and reform leaders were ousted, sent to Moscow, and exile followed, with Husak asserting normalization despite continued occupation. The Moscow accord and troop withdrawals were never fully realized.
