Marion schools plan to open for the event in the Marriott independent district on Monday with teachers starting a four day workshop on Tuesday. New teachers and mentors meet at 4 pm in their buildings followed by a reception at 4 45 in the high school auditorium led by Dr. and Mrs. Richard M. Sorensen. The full faculty meets at 10 30 with a Marion Education Association session set for Wednesday through Friday. Workshop hours run 3 45 to 8 03 for each day and building level schedules detail preparation for class openings.

Negash Belay a 19 year old student from Adrigrat Ethiopia has arrived in Marion to spend a year with the Willian Drago family route 3. Sponsored by the Linn Mar chapter of American Field Service International the group funds exchanges of foreign students and sends American students overseas.
