Sen. Hubert Humphrey, 66, hospitalized after cancer treatment, underwent a colostomy to diagnose an intestinal obstruction. Doctors said the operation would last several hours and could reveal a cancer recurrence or other causes from prior cancer surgery or radiation. President Carter and other officials sent well wishes. Vice President Mondale visited Humphrey.
