William H Berry 72 of 1912 Park Ave SE Cedar Rapids retired Rock Island Railroad employee died after brief illness. Born December 28 1897 near Nichols he is survived by two sons Robert Berry Cedar Rapids and Edward Berry Glendale Arizona and four grandchildren. He belonged to First Christian Church. Charles Parlin of Englewood New Jersey was elected president of the World Methodist Council becoming the first layman to hold the post since the 1881 founding. The appointment was made at a unanimous meeting of the council in Geneva. Authorities cite Parlin as senior partner at Sherman and Sterling in New York City.
