Bandits in dirty overalls robbed the Elliott branch of Houghton State Bank of Red Oak at 1:45 p.m. taking about $1,000 in cash. Manager George E. Woolenhaupt, 49, was slugged and bled slightly as the pair fled in a black V-8 Ford toward Missouri. State police blocked routes to Missouri and Nebraska as officers hunted the amateurs. Elliott, Iowa population 566, opened the Elliott branch three months ago with Woolenhaupt as manager.
