Mason City authorities report Edward Walker, 61, drowned in the Winnebago River after fishing with a companion who left to return to a car. Walker was the weekend’s second Iowa drowning, following Melvin Proessel, 28, who fell from a dock into Mississippi backwaters near North Buena Vista, with his body recovered from about 30 feet of water.

Stolen National Guard Guns Found in Omaha Homes
Police identified guns recovered Sunday in two Omaha residences as the weapons stolen last week from the Cherokee National Guard armory. Inspectors say two .30 caliber carbines and ammunition were found at John L. Karl's home, while an automatic carbine, two gas masks and ammo were found at Robert H. Ryan's residence. Noller Dies Prominent Sigourney Farmer at 50
Glen Hewitt Noller of Sigourney died Sunday night in an Iowa City hospital after a long illness. A lifelong resident except 18 months in Mt Vernon, he chaired the Keokuk County hospital fund drive and helped found the stockyard with his brother. He leaves his wife, three sons, six grandchildren, a sister, and a brother. Funeral services are Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Sigourney Methodist Church. Burial in Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Currie C. Chase 74 secretary treasurer of the Iowa State Traveling Men's Association died Sunday in Des Moines. He was immediate past president of the International Federation of Commercial Travelers Insurance Organizations and served 17 years as secretary treasurer of the Iowa association. A professional singer in vaudeville and on the Chautauqua circuit, Chase was a traveling salesman for a former Des Moines wholesale grocery firm and was the son of the late Rufus Chase, former Iowa commander of the Grand Army of the Republic.
