Supporters confident $30M conservation bond will pass
IOWA CITY supporters of Johnson County’s $30 million conservation bond remain confident voters will approve it on November 5 despite two top conservation officials being placed on paid administrative leave in June for undisclosed reasons. The Our Land Our Water Our Future committee leads the effort, with bond funds to protect water quality, conserve natural areas, and acquire parks and trails. If approved, the bond would be repaid via property taxes, requiring 60 percent. In 2008 a $20 million bond passed with 61 percent.
