Therapists face charges in girl's death near Denver
In Jefferson County a preliminary hearing linked therapists Julie Ponder Connell Watkins intern Jack McDaniel and Brita St Clair to the death of 10 year old Candace Newmaker after a session at a Evergreen center Candace died from asphyxiation a day after the blanket rebirth exercise. Candace's adoptive mother Jeane Newmaker also faces charges at a later hearing. The session involved a blanket enveloping Candace and pillows pushing against her to simulate rebirth.
