Pleasure trips figure in Brewer murder case

Howard O'Brien former Anamosa reformatory manager testified that he and Ronald Brewer bought beers clothing and a 22 rifle on many pleasure trips outside the prison Brewer then on trial for the killing of Clarence Edwards 52 of Anamosa on Jan 24 he had escaped the reformatory earlier Brewer described trips to Cedar Rapids for bowling movies and pizza and beer actions while Brewer taught classes on the programmed outs O'Brien acknowledged violating prison policy and said he was relieved of duties Sissel program coordinator testified Brewer was a valuable part of the prison program and that trips were reinstated after a tip about an escape attempt was found groundless The jurors were told about actions related to the Jan 24 incident and the handling of the escape tip

Iowa asks arrest ABP officials on sixty charges

The state of Iowa asked Nebraska authorities to arrest ABP officials Frank R. West and Robert E. Lee on 60 charges from a closed grand jury probe. FBI Reveals Covert Anti Klan Counterintel Program

Newly disclosed FBI files detail a one year Cointelpro operation to disrupt white hate groups including the Ku Klux Klan National States Rights party and the American Nazi party.
