Delta Airlines reports four killed when its regular passenger and mail plane crashed and burned nine miles north of Gilmer in east Texas. Victims include pilot Andy Dixon of Monroe Louisiana co pilot Herbert Buckley of Wichita Falls Texas and passengers J W Johnson of Atlanta Georgia and P A Ivy of Birmingham Alabama. Officials cite no known cause and send investigators from Dallas to inspect wreckage and arrange body disposition.
