Iowa oil search continues despite no finds
In Iowa City and across the state, oil exploration persists after 105 wells since 1900 yielded only one small producing site near Keota. Upland Leasing sponsors four Crawford County holes, Kewa Exploration sponsors seismography in southwest Iowa, and Coal Valley Resources holds leases in Guthrie and Audubon counties while Geospectra may assist. The goal remains a viable shallow oil pool and possibly a second well.
