Rains Delay City Street Projects In Cedar Rapids

Public Works Commissioner Donald Canney says heavy rains in June and July slowed Cedar Rapids street work, delaying asphalt overlays and concrete paving by six weeks to two months and adding about 150000 dollars in extra labor and materials. August weather allowed some catch up though drainage and Mt Vernon road widening remain hindered by weather and federal approval delays for the Oak Hill NDP. Edgewood road extension toward the Cedar River continues with river north section county responsibility and a bridge slated for completion October 28.
