Former nurse charged with stealing opioids
Cedar Rapids registered nurse Sarah Jean Moses ages 41 also known as Sarah Nalvanko is charged in a federal indictment with tampering with hydromorphone and obtaining controlled substances by deception. She allegedly diverted opioids at two facilities between 2017 and 2018 and used her fingerprint or passcode to access drugs. The case includes allegations of puncturing vials, refilling with saline, and taking oxycodone pills from a patient’s refill. Moses faces arraignment next week and potential prison terms if convicted.

Multiple gunshots fired in Cedar Rapids incident
Police investigated a daytime shooting in southeast Cedar Rapids near the 1500 block of Eighth Avenue SE. A 2011 GMC Terrain was found damaged by gunfire with no injuries reported. A red newer Ford Mustang with two occupants fled north on 15th Street SE. the car was found unoccupied and secured after a search warrant.
