Marion residents offered help with closing costs
A CASH program session for low income first time homebuyers in Marion runs 2 to 3 pm at the Marion Public Library. The meeting, hosted by MidAmerica Housing Partnership and the city, explains grants up to 1200 toward closing costs for households at or below 80 percent of Linn County income limits.

ExxonMobil settles with Iowa over tobacco sales to minors
Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller announced a 14 page agreement in a multi state action with ExxonMobil. The settlement requires steps to prevent tobacco sales to miners at about 1 000 company stores and 16 000 franchise locations displaying Exxon or Mobil names. ExxonMobil will pay 100 000 to states for compliance efforts and adopt training hire standards require clerks to check ID for customers under 27 and monitor with videotape.
