Damage Suit Filed in Fayette County Court
A $500,000 damage suit was filed in Fayette county district court Wednesday by Francis J. O Regan of Waucoma against Conrad Baumler of St Lucas and executor of Cornelius Baumler's estate. It alleges that on November 9, 1974 the deceased cornelius Baumler assaulted him causing severe and permanent vision damage, brain damage, pain and suffering, permanent loss of occupation farming and loss of wages.

Deputies Arrest 3 on Drunk Driving Charges
Three suspects were slated for Linn district court Thursday on drunk driving charges. Sharon Kay Caldwell, 32, was arrested near her Rose Street SE home after alleged vehicle strikes. Odas J. Williams, 47, was arrested on First Avenue W with a restricted license violation and unlawful use of a license. Dean E. Werner, 36, faces a second offense drunk driving arrest in the 600 block of Fifth Avenue SE.

In magistrate court William Kennedy of 316 Eighth Avenue SE pled guilty to injury to a motor vehicle with a $35 fine and costs for damaging Pam Brown’s car on July 26. Donald Barriger of the southeast side was found guilty of assault and battery, fined $25 and costs for attacking Richard Anderson on July 3. Charles Clements of Springville had assault and battery charges dismissed for an alleged attack on Elma Morgan on August 5. John Buckroyd of 1008 Second Street SE was found guilty of assault and battery, fined $50 and costs for assaulting Raymond Krug on May 27. Stacie Jackson of Des Moines pled guilty to false use of a credit card and received a 30 day suspended sentence for using Dorothy Springer’s card on August 9. Steven Becker of 1265 Second Avenue SE pled guilty to assault and battery, given 30 days with time served for attacking Cedar Rapids police officer Jim Kinkead on July 23. Douglas McDonough of 4418 Ozark Street NE pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance with sentencing deferred for marijuana possession on June 16. Engle Dekock of Oskaloosa was found guilty of assault and battery, fined $5 and costs for striking Mark Thomas on June 29.
