A state audit shows the 2016 Iowa State Fair, on an 11 day run, attracted 1,031,278 visitors down from 1,117,398, while operating revenues rose to 25.5 million, up 1.2 million from 2015. Concession sales, Grandstand fees, and camping revenues boosted income despite expenses rising nearly 7 percent to 24.6 million.
Iowa state officials continue private talks with AmeriGroup AmeriHealth Caritas and UnitedHealthcare over 5 billion Medicaid management payments. Officials have not released why negotiations extend beyond expected deadlines nor estimated the potential extra costs to Iowa’s budget.
