Al Sadr wounded in Najaf clashes with coalition forces

Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr is reported wounded during fighting in Najaf where his followers oppose U S and Iraqi troops. He is said to be holed up in the Imam Ali shrine compound as clashes continue around the city.

Thousands of U S troops sealed Najafs vast cemetery and attacked Militia loyal to al Sadr with tanks infantry and helicopters. The assault aimed at the Shiite shrine, the home of al Sadr was stormed but he was not there.
