Golf Major Brings Windfall for Local Homeowners
In Pittsford and surrounding Rochester suburbs, homeowners rent out properties during the PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club. William and Carol Ruby rent their four bedroom colonial for up to $1,000 a day, while others seek buyers for temporary stays. Not all see benefits, as some homes remain unrented amid high demand and risk concerns. The region estimates $30 million to $40 million from the event, with many hosts within walking distance to Oak Hill.
