Eddy Arnold, praised by Time as a Country Como, will headline the All-Town fair Monday with performances at 7 and 9 15 p m. Grandstand seats go on sale at Hawkeye Downs today and Monday. Arnold, known for Make the World Go Away, has top ten hits and no 1 records, with recent shows with the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra and at the Hollywood Bowl. He also serves as Nashville chapter president of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and was appointed to Tennessee State Industrial Commission.

Washington based Pakistani diplomat Badiuzzaman Ahmed, 39, aims to bicycle from Washington to Brazil next year, visiting the southern United States, Mexico and Central America, then sail to Africa for a northern Africa tour. He recalls 70,000 miles across 35 countries, including Mecca pilgrimage, as proof of his self financed globetrotting. He will fly home to Padma to visit his blind mother before the journey and plans to replace his bike after using a 50,000 mile machine for the new routes.

Special after school bus routes feed JFK students
About 190 students from the Harrison elementary district are assigned to Kennedy school this year after a transfer from the Jefferson high school district. Two 66 passenger buses will run until 5 30 daily with after school activities, plus 5 and 6 pm service for west side riders. The plan costs the district about 2400 daily for west side students and aims to boost extracurricular participation.
