Iowa City theater gets half share on festival tickets
Riverside Theatre will pay 50 cents per adult and 25 cents per child from Shakespeare Festival ticket revenue this year, instead of the usual $1 and 50 cents. The city’s Parks and Recreation Commission granted the reduced share due to weak sales, while noting no full break from proceeds. The festival ran June 17 to July 10 at Lower City Park with tickets priced 17 to 39 dollars. The company reported half-filled seats on average, linking weak summer sales to the 2008 flood and slower economy.
