Elgin Couple Weds In Front Of 10000 At Fayette County Fair
Gladyce Lane and Herb Ash married at the Fayette County Fair grandstand on Aug 25 1933 before about 10000 curious spectators. The secret ceremony promoted fair publicity and crowd hush mirrored a church service. The couple later received a 25th anniversary silver tea service and will be honored again at a talent show with a family reception in Elgin.

Spencer woman named to Iowa Appeals Court
Rosemary Shaw Sackett, 43, of Spencer, named by Gov. Branstad to the Iowa Court of Appeals, becoming the second woman on the state’s second-highest court.
