Train strikes man at Manilla crossing killing Roy
Roy 52 of Manchester township was killed about 10 am Wednesday when the eastbound passenger train struck the bicycle he was riding at a street crossing in Manilla. He died of a broken neck. Roy, a Rock Island lines employee since 1909, was promoted to fireman in 1925 and engineer in 1929. He was married with two daughters and survived by a widow, two brothers and five sisters. The death brings Iowa railway fatalities to 279 this year.
