Youngville Cafe Revival Restores Lincoln Highway Milepost
After 35 years the Youngville Cafe in Benton County near Cedar Rapids reopened as a cafe and living museum. Elizabeth Wheeler’s legacy and Anne Schoonover’s restoration effort raised $100,000 to revive the site with 1930s menus and locally produced foods. Booths from a Chelsea cafe and three cabins were relocated to create a museum space devoted to the Lincoln and Red Ball highways.
