Brenton and Hills Acquire Banc Iowa Bank Assets in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids
Brenton Bank and Hills Bank each acquired Banc Iowa branches from the RTC after the failed Banc Iowa was placed in conservatorship. Brenton paid 3.502 million for deposits totaling 118 million, insured up to 100 thousand per account. Hills paid 359 thousand for the Iowa City deposits insured by FDIC. Barry guilty on one count in six week trial
Mayor Marion Barry was convicted on a single cocaine possession count from November 1989 and acquitted on others.
