Cedar Rapids road upgrades start soon under bid totals
Cedar Rapids city council opened bids for two road projects near Highway 151 and 41st Avenue SW. Rathie Construction will do the Highway 151 work for 355,792 with state funds covering 55 percent and local partners sharing the rest. F E Paving will extend 41st Avenue and C Street for 1,369,120, with 65 percent state grants and local funds, work to begin late summer and finish by fall.

Beverly Washington, 31, told police she stabbed Vance Mason, 38, because he beat her children and threatened to harm them. Mason survived after treatment for a stab wound.
