Des Moines AP Attorney General Edward L. OConnor repeats he has not received an official report from Maurice J. Breen about the Woodbury graft grand jury. He disputes Gov Clyde Herring who said Breen reported testimony altered. Breen was appointed to probe alleged political motives behind the grand jury. The graft probe has indicted several officials and continues into slot machine protection and graft payments.
Sioux City report cites special prosecutor H M Havner disputing claims that grand jury witness minutes were altered by court reporters. Havner says witnesses signed dictated statements in the grand jury room and asserts the process was regular and properly recorded.

Ousted anti Catholic dictator Tomas Garrido Canabal of Tabasco left Mexico on Saturday fleeing to Puerto Rico seeking American protection. He departed in his own plane piloted by an American and may face political fallout from the move.
