A federal appeals court ruled DMACC did not discriminate against Fred Gilbert in 2004 when selecting a new college president. The court said minor candidates were not close in points and that DMACC offered legitimate non discriminatory reasons. It also upheld the demotion following an internal plagiarism finding.
The autopsy of 19 year old Robert Strand of Hampton confirms an accidental meth amphetamine overdose as the cause of death on May 23. Strand was found unresponsive in an apartment and pronounced dead at a hospital. Franklin County Attorney Brent Symons stated that no charges are expected against others who were with Strand at the time.
