In Eastern Iowa, farmers approve aerial spraying costing about 10.20 per acre to combat a second hatch of bean leaf beetles. Monty Lumsden of Indy Crop Care says up to 20 000 acres may be sprayed from the Independence airport across Benton, Buchanan, Black Hawk, Linn and Fayette counties.

Cedar Rapids oversubscribed its double exempt general obligation bonds with RBC Davi Rauscher placing over 2 million of the 3.185 million locally. The bonds priced 1.25 percent to 4.7 percent with tax advantages driving high demand amid a AAA rating. Proceeds fund urban renewal and TIF projects while additional 30.77 million issue funds general municipal needs.
