Judge backs city in IBP water plant case in Cedar Rapids
Federal Magistrate John Jarvey tentatively rules in favor of Cedar Rapids in the IBP suit over financing an $18 million industrial waste water treatment plant. He warns the relationship must endure for the contract life or the Waterloo plant life. The ruling benefits other sewer users who could have faced higher bills. IBP argued rates were improperly raised to cover plant costs while the city seeks about $7 million for improvements to meet ammonia nitrogen standards.
