Retiring Cedar Rapids police veterans mark long careers
Henry E. Overman and Harold Mackey, Cedar Rapids police veterans with 27 plus years on the force, retire effective Sept 15. Overman, a traffic captain and pioneer in safety programs, led school patrols and crosswalk upgrades. Mackey, a detective, helped investigate arson cases, fires, and police incidents, noting improvements in communications and polygraph use. Both plan to stay in Cedar Rapids.
