Questions on Wheat Gut Plan Answered
Washington AP explains how the voluntary domestic allotment for wheat will operate. Farmers sign applications agreeing to reduce wheat acreage for 1934 and 1935 in exchange for adjustment payments. An allotment committee of a county production control association reviews and offers contracts binding when approved by the secretary of agriculture. Open to producers who seeded wheat in 1930 1931 or 1932. Contracts cannot cover farms with no wheat or no planned wheat in 1934 1935. The plan requires a reduction below the 1928 1932 average by up to 20 percent, with the 1934 reduction announced August 24 and the 1935 reduction announced a year later.
